Background
Two sides.
Zero connection.
One app to fix it.
SharpOrder Inc. operates in South Africa's logistics and supply chain sector. The gap they needed to close was fundamental: shippers had no reliable way to place and track orders digitally, and drivers had no app to receive assignments, navigate routes, or update delivery status.
Coordination ran entirely on calls, WhatsApp messages, and manual check-ins. There was no GPS tracking, no automated status updates, and no audit trail. Every delivery was operationally expensive, and visibility was near zero until the package arrived at its destination.
I built both sides of the app as a unified platform - shipper order management and driver delivery workflow - connected through a real-time backend with GPS tracking and automated notifications at every stage.

The core insight
"A logistics platform isn't just an app; it's a state synchronization engine between a driver with poor network conditions and a shipper demanding real-time visibility."
The hardest architectural challenge wasn't building the UI-it was maintaining data integrity. Drivers often operate in areas with spotty cellular coverage, yet shippers expect live location updates and instant push notifications when a delivery is completed. Utilizing a robust offline-first caching layer in the React Native client, we ensured that status updates were never lost, automatically syncing with the central database the moment connectivity returned.
Outcome
Where things stand
SharpOrders is now successfully deployed and live on the Apple App Store. The platform has effectively digitized the entire coordination flow between shippers and drivers, moving operations entirely off of manual WhatsApp messages and phone calls.
Drivers now rely on the integrated turn-by-turn routing to reach destinations more efficiently, capturing digital signatures and photographic proof of delivery right in the app. This has drastically reduced disputes over missing packages.
Shippers now enjoy full transparency over their supply chain. With a 100% real-time status sync, they receive automated notifications the moment a delivery is accepted, picked up, en route, and completed, saving countless hours previously spent tracking down drivers.
